Raw Pu-erh Tea
Raw pu-erh tea (生普洱茶 shēng pǔěr chá) is tea that is made from large-leaf varietal Camellia Sinensis Assamica tea trees in Yunnan, China, that has been dried in the sun. Raw pu-erh tea is often compressed into cakes, bricks, and other shapes that reinforce the tea's overarching suitability for long-term storage and ageing. Young raw pu-erh tea is strong, punchy, and fresh, brewing a light yellow-green colour. As it ages, raw pu-erh takes on a deeper colour and more complex profile reminiscent of fragrant wood incense, traditional herbal medicine, and wild honey. For a well-rounded introduction to the world of fresh raw pu-erh, we suggest our 2024 'Shanshui' Raw Puerh Tea. Alternatively, change gears and drop into the languorous bokeh blurred world of aged raw pu-erh with our oldest offering yet 2007 'Jingmai' Raw Puerh Tea.
