Handmade Teacup Set by Minna Graham — Blue Duck Egg

This set of four handmade ceramic teacups and tea boat by Minna Graham come in a pale blue 'duck egg' glaze with cork brown detailing. All pieces feature significant reduction speckling and unique vitrification patterns as a result of Minna's unique firing process. 

Each of these four teacups have a short and round profile. The teacup outer wall features a hand carved spiral motif that extends across the bottom half. The upper portion of the teacup and its internal walls feature a milky blue, speckled duck egg glaze in a high gloss finish. This glaze is uniquely pooled in the interior of each teacup, forming a one-of-a-kind vitrification pattern that's texturally reminiscent of a glacier. Characteristic reduction speckling is visible throughout the teacup in shades ranging from burnt cork, dark iron, and sea moss green, giving the cup a multi-tonal, pointilist complexity. 

The accompanying tea boat features the same milky blue, speckled duck egg glaze with high levels of spotting and vitrification throughout. It has a raised profile and generously flared lip that helps to contain any liquid content, making this piece ideal for use as a tea boat. Like the teacups, the bottom half of this plate’s outer wall is unglazed and features a hand carved spiral motif that's reminiscent of water ripples and pleasing to the touch. The glazing applied on the well of the plate has formed into a glassy pool as a result of vitrification during the firing process, completing this set's thematic exploration of  aquatic ecosystems.

The four cups have an average capacity of 35ml or 50ml when filled to the brim.
