Jingdezhen Porcelain Gaiwan

This technically excellent gaiwan (盖碗 gàiwǎn) is made from high quality porcelain in Jingdezhen, China. This gaiwan is slightly cool white in hue, and has a very fine yet exceptionally sturdy body - its footed base has a pleasing weight to it that widens into a remarkably thin and even rim.

The heat dissipation of the flared rim is superb and the lid fits perfectly to the body. Easy to hold and pour, suitable for all kinds of tea, and a joy to use as a daily driver owing to the masterfully crafted balance. As is characteristic of Jingdezhen porcelain, this gaiwan is pure white with a subtly cool-leaning hue that's evident when compared to our creamy bone-white Dehua porcelain teacups and pitcher.

Each gaiwan can hold approximately 100ml of liquid making it an ideal vessel for 5-7g of tea in gongfu brewing.

If you're used to cheap, mass-produced ‘porcelain’ teawares, this is a great example of how deep the porcelain rabbit hole goes.
