Black Tea

Black tea (红茶 hóng chá) - technically 'red tea' in Chinese - is tea that's been intentionally oxidised during processing, resulting in intensified body and fragrance, and leaves that are dark brown to red. The flavour is often fruity with a hint of caramelised richness like raisin toast. Brewed black tea yields a light orange, ruby red, or even dark brown liquid depending on the strength. In comparison to Western-style black teas, Chinese black tea is typically more soft, sweet, and fragrant with a noticeably less tannin-forward profile. We offer a range of hongchas including our 2025 'Dark Red' Black Tea made in the 'Yunnan Golden Tips' or 'Dianhong' (滇紅茶 diānhóng chá) style, as well as highly fragrant Fujian black teas including 'Lapsang Souchoung' (正山小种 zhèngshān xiǎozhǒng) and 'Keemun' (祁门 qí mén).
