Woodfired Ruyao Cups

Regular price $79.99 AUD $0.00 AUD
Handmade by an artist in Fujian, these tea cups are woodfired, showing varying degrees of kiln-effects. Woodfiring more is expensive, labour intensive, and less reliable than firing in an electric or gas kiln. Many items break in the kiln due to temperature fluctuations, but the pieces that survive are always worth it.

There is six of these cups, all different. The glaze is ruyao style, which means that as you drink tea, all the little cracks/crazing will stain, leaving a record of the tea you've drunk. The more you use the cup, the more beautiful it will become.

On average the cups hold around 60ml of liquid when filled to the top, give or take 5ml or so. They weigh around 120g each, giving them a nice weighty feel in the hand.
