Raw Pu-erh Tea
Raw pu-erh tea (生普洱茶 Shēng Pǔ Ěr Chá) is tea from Yunnan, China that is made from large-leaf varietal Camellia Sinensis Assamica tea trees, and must be dried in the sun. Raw pu-erh tea is suitable for long-term storage and ageing. Young raw pu-erh tea is strong, punchy, and fresh, brewing a light yellow-green colour. As it ages, it darkens in colour and flavour, becoming more sweet, smooth, and rich, often with incense or honey like flavours and fragrances. The tea is often compressed into cakes, bricks, or other shapes to aid storage.
