A pitcher, also called a cha hai or gong dao bei, or even fairness cup, is a very useful part of a teaware collection. When using a teapot or gaiwan, it is easier to pour the brewed tea into a pitcher and then distribute the tea from the pitcher to cups. It means everyone tastes the same infusion, and makes things less messy compared to brewing directly from cup to cup. It also means during solo sessions you have a more constant flow of tea that is cooling down to a drinkable temperature, as you have an infusion in your cup, and the next infusion cooling in the pitcher.
